14-year-old Sam was born on New Year’s Eve in 2004 and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, which has affected his growth and development. Sam is in full-time education but experienced difficulties in standing at school with increasing muscle tightness. Sam has never walked but uses a power chair to get out and about.
Physio Matters worked alongside equipment suppliers to source an ‘Innowalk’ for Sam which enables him to improve his range of movement. We also use a range of fun activities including exercise balls and boxing to help Sam improve his strength, mobility and coordination, and prevent muscle tightness and joint stiffness.
Watch our Senior Neurological Physiotherapist Tim Nike explain the importance of activities in physiotherapy sessions with young adults, and how they are helping Sam to maximise his independence and potential.
