Richard was diagnosed with relapse remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2014, which has limited his mobility. He already had reduced vision due to retinitis pigmentosa, which the MS has made worse, and he suffers from Type 1 diabetes. After suffering a fall at home where he broke his hip, Richard needed ongoing physiotherapy to help him regain his mobility and manage his condition.
Physio Matters worked alongside equipment suppliers to source a balance trainer standing frame for Richard which enables him to stand within physio sessions. This helps improve his strength and balance, and prevent muscle tightness, joint stiffness and reduces the risk of pressure sores.
Watch Richard explain how much he looks forward to his physio sessions, and see our Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist Kirsty Agnew help him use his standing frame.
