2016 was a great year for Physio Matters! Our friendly team has expanded, welcoming Mat Bush, Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist who joined us in February and Emily Morrow who joined us on an Apprenticeship Programme in October. Emily is currently working towards her NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Business and Administration and is very much enjoying learning with the support of the team.
The team has seen some changes as Katy Parrott, Business Development Lead, started her new role as Physiotherapist Assistant as well as Eirin Andersen being promoted to Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist after some fantastic work over the past 12 months. The team are very proud of the last years’ achievements and look forward to another successful year!
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility we nominated SHELTER, a homelessness charity that runs a housing helpline, has a network of housing aid centres, and works with local citizen’s advice bureaux, as our charity of the year. Colin Green, Clinical Director completed a huge challenge in August, The GB Ultra in which he ran 200 miles in 4 days from Liverpool to Hornsea – Colin raised a massive £3,208.70! Colin and the team are very proud of this achievement and would like to thank everyone for their kind donations. In further fundraising the whole team took part in a 10K walk in aid of SHELTER. In November, the team was invited to The Mad Hatters Ball which was hosted by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors in aid of the Prince’s Trust, a youth charity that helps young people aged 13 to 30 get into jobs, education and training.
In additional to our clinical work and our office expanding, we have also been busy with a lot of new and exciting training to improve our services. Matthew Dale from Bioness has worked with us to expand our Functional Electrical Stimulation service to include both upper and lower limb systems.
Colin, Eirin and Katy all attended an Aqua therapy course at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, where they consolidated their skills and learnt new skills that they are keen to use with a wide range of clients.
We are all looking forward to all that 2017 has to offer and would love you to join us on this journey. Please follow us on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to keep up to date with all Physio Matters news!!
