Brainwaves offers free interdisciplinary training sessions for professionals working in brain injury rehabilitation.
It was formed by Colin Green, Clinical Director at Physio Matters Neurological Ltd and Louise Sheffield of Active Case Management Ltd. Sessions are held every 2 months at Hollinwood Business Centre in Oldham.
Brainwaves is open to therapists, case managers, social workers, support workers, lawyers and anyone working in the field of acquired brain injury. It covers clinical topics such as adapted technology, insight after brain injury, nutrition, music therapy, orthotics, hydrotherapy, legal processes and more.
The first Brainwaves Conference was held in 2019 focusing on brain injury rehabilitation. The Conference theme was ‘Motivational Interviewing and Brain Injury Rehabilitation’ and was led by international speaker and expert Dr David Manchester, Clinical Psychologist and Director of MLR Psychology Consultants in Sydney, Australia.
Co-hosted by Physio Matters, the 1-day Conference was the first of its kind and brought together over 50 professionals who work in brain injury rehabilitation including physiotherapists, psychologists, nutritionists, case managers, social workers, and lawyers.
The Conference was supported by main sponsor Irwin Mitchell Solicitors and exhibitors Newby Psychological Services, Munro Therapy Services, Red Pepper Nutrition, Active Case Management and Physio Matters.
